Shem's Wedding
Chad's youngest brother, Shem, got married on Friday the 12th of June. We were happy to be able to fly down for this special event. Rachel was excited to ride on a plane again. Elijah flew for the first time and didn't like it much. It's a long flight without a lot of movement. All in all it went well. The wedding was beautiful and we had lots of fun seeing friends and family. Here are a few shots. We didn't take many photos because we were so busy.

San Diego Fun
We decided to take a small family trip to San Diego before Chad's brother, Shem, got married. We flew in to AZ on Monday the 8th and took off for San Deigo the next morning. We spent a little time on the beach, but it was too chilly to enjoy the water. We spent the whole day on Wednesday at Sea World. Rachel really enjoyed all of the shows. She told us that San Diego was her new favorite spot. :) I thought I'd share a few of the photos that we took on the trip.

Elijah's 1st Haircut!
We took Elijah to get his first haircut on 4-12-09! He was so excited and happy that everyone was paying attention to him, he didn't even realize he was getting a haircut!

Nauvoo
This Easter weekend Chad and I decided to take a trip to Nauvoo to see the sites and enjoy the temple. We stayed in the Willard Richard Home. That was a different experience (with the bathroom across the hall and no locks on the doors). We had fun and were happy that we finally made a little time to tour all of different buildings that we hadn't been able to see yet. Here are some of the things we saw...
They have some yummy treats here!
Ever wonder where the phrase sleep tight don't let the bed bugs bit came from? Well, these people knew it was essential to tighten the ropes before going to bed.
Rachel's learning all about Jonathan Browning and his gun making skills.

Chad's teaching Elijah all about how to preach in the Hall of the Seventies, which was the first MTC.

Rachel and I on the Oxen Ride.

We're ready to make our way across the plains! We learned all about why the pioneers preferred oxen over horses.

This was the common room of the Willard Richard home where we stayed.

Go Fly a Kite
Rachel and I attempted to fly her first kite...but it was a little too windy. We're excited to try again soon.

Rachel's Spring Concert 2009
So this year Rachel's spring concert was so cute. They combined the 1st graders with the Kindergarten class and put on a really cute little musical. It was entitled "How Does Your Garden Grow." The 1st graders acted the part of the cool weeds (notice the hair) and the Kindergarten class were the cute little flowers. Rachel had a fun time preparing for the part of a weed. She really wanted me to spray her hair green, but I thought that was a little over the top...so we compromised with the crazy hair.

Now that is weedy hair.
